CAMP

About
YAA partners with Momenta to deliver a four-night camping experience for youth. YAA Camp takes place at Variety’s Camp Brereton in the Whiteshell Provincial Park. Youth are exposed to kayaking, canoeing, swimming, hiking, bouldering, mountain biking, sports court, arts, campfires and community building activities. Youth campers who have attended YAA Camp in previous years are eligible to attend again.
The relationship that YAA has with Momenta allows youth to participate in quality summer camping and outdoor learning experiences. Together, we aim to create a safe and supportive environment for youth to experience activities outside of the urban setting and create connections with youth from other YAA organizations.

Youth Campers
YAA Camp is free of charge for youth campers as it is subsidized by United Way Winnipeg. During Camp, youth aged 8 – 14 are supervised by YAA Primary Member Staff, experienced Momenta Cabin Counselors and Program Facilitators.
Leaders in Training
The Leaders in Training (LIT) program is free for youth aged 15 - 17. LIT participants are involved in Momenta’s Leadership Canoe Trip (before YAA Camp) and act as support counselors by shadowing Momenta’s Cabin Counselors during YAA Camp.
This program provides hands-on learning, on-the-job training, positive recreation experiences, and the opportunity to gain leadership skills. The LIT are supported by the Momenta Camp Director and receive a stipend for their participation.
