On behalf of YAA and our member agencies I would like to thank everyone who has offered their time, resources and expertise to us over the past year.
It has been a momentous year for YAA as we solidified our Youth Council, formalized our Partner Agency class, facilitated successful annual programs including the Art Show (#YouthBreakingBarriers), Rotary Leadership Circle, and Junior and Senior Camp, and hosted our second annual fundraiser! Of particular note is that we initiated a 3 year pilot project focusing on evaluation and impact measurement, which allowed us to bring a third staff into the YAA cohort, an Evaluation Coordinator. Personally, I made the jump into the role of Director, and I appreciate your patience and support throughout this transition. There hasn’t been a dull moment and we’ve enjoyed every minute of it!
I have to also take a moment to expand on our Youth Council. This group of young adults from across our 18 member agencies have a tremendous amount of ambition and are wise beyond their years. We are grateful for their willingness to share their ideas for how we (as YAA, a city, and a province) can support them and break down barriers to allow them to flourish. If there’s one thing I can promise, it’s that you haven’t heard the last from our Youth Council; this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Although it has felt like the blink of an eye, looking back we have many accomplishments to be proud of. The work we do with our member agencies has significant impact on the youth and families they serve, resulting in a stronger, healthier Winnipeg. Thank you once again for your friendship and support, and we hope to continue to grow our relationship throughout 2017!
Happy Holidays and best wishes for the New Year!
